Join a journalism organization

Membership has its privileges, and being a member of a journalism organization can afford many professional development and networking opportunities. Journalism organizations often have their own job and internship listings -- and some that you won't find on job boards. They also usually offer training and mentorship programs. Finally, organizations frequently sponsor events, which present a great way to find other journalists from similar backgrounds or with similar interests.
