Philadelphia City Paper seeks reporter

Philadelphia City Paper, an alternative weekly newspaper with a readership of nearly 500,000, has a rare opening for a staff writer. Salary is around $35,000.

"The ideal candidate is comfortable covering urban issues and can generate their own story ideas," the job posting says. "A staff writer usually produces one cover story a month (generally narrative-style, long-form reporting and writing) and one story for the news department each week. There are also opportunities to write for the paper's A&E, op-ed, and features sections."

Send a cover letter, resume, and at least 3 clips (one or more preferably featuring long-form reporting and writing skills) to: Human Resources, 123 Chestnut Street, 3rd Floor, Philadelphia, Pa, 19106. Or e-mail: jobs@citypaper.net
