Paid research assistant @ ESPN Books
ESPN Books is looking for a student to assist with assorted tasks during the spring. The paid position is based in New York City, begins in January and is 20-25 hours per week. Students can also arrange for college credit.
Duties Include: Proofing and reading copy for typos and readability; researching topics for book authors and editors; doing spot fact-checking of manuscripts; writing sidebars or other discrete elements of books as may be needed; assisting in putting together production files for the printer; and assisting the marketing staff by monitoring book sales of both ESPN titles and comparative titles by other publishers. The book projects he will likely be working on include: The ESPN College Basketball Encyclopedia, the SEC College Football Encyclopedia, the second edition of the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia, among others.
