Entertainment reporter openings @ newspapers

A couple newspapers are seeking entertainment reporters. Entry-level journalists may have a shot at these opportunities:
  • The Decatur (Ill.) Herald & Review, a 35,000-circulation daily newspaper located between Chicago and St. Louis, seeks a reporter to cover the local entertainment beat. "While some of what we expect from a reporter involves providing copy for our Friday Life section, we want someone who can also provide lively features for page one and be available for general assignment work," the ad states.   • The Hippo, a 34,000-circulation weekly newspaper covering southern New Hampshire, seeks a freelancer to contribute stories about music, comedy, trends in nightlife and more. "Writer will get the chance to interview nationally recognized performers as well as up-and-coming local musicians and write stories their show their skill at profiles, event coverage and trend pieces," the ad states.
