"Ideal for college students or recent graduates who are looking for experience in an established newspaper," the ad states. "It is a task-driven position that requires basic reporting and researching skills. The editorial assistant is responsible for writing weekly features, fact checking and fielding some phone and e-mail inquiries. The hours are flexible, but applicants must be able to work on Thursdays. Knowledge of Orange County and business language is a big plus."
