Reporter jobs in college towns

These opportunities may be a good fit for young journalists -- and college basketball fans:
  • Indiana: The Bloomington Herald-Times, a 30,000-circulation daily newspaper located in the same town as Indiana University, seeks a full-time news reporter. "Competitive salary and benefits program ... 401K, Health, Dental, Life insurance and paid vacation, personal days," the ad states. E-mail resume and cover letter and three writing samples to ksutton@heraldt.com.
  • Kansas: The Lawrence Journal-World, a 20,000-circulation daily newspaper located in the same town as the University of Kansas, seeks an overnight reporter. "The reporter will respond to breaking news and write, take photographs and/or shoot video and post the news to the Web site," the ad states. "This is a full-time position working 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. with occasional day shifts." Apply online by June 5.
