N.C. newspapers seeking reporters

A few North Carolina newspapers are seeking reporters. These may be good places for young journalists to apply:
  • The Smoky Mountain News, a 16,000-circulation free weekly in Waynesville, seeks a reporter "adept at enterprise and investigative stories who also values watchdog coverage of county and town boards." Send resume to
  • The Lumberton Robesonian, a 14,000-circulation daily newspaper in southeastern North Carolina, seeks a sports reporter. "Coverage is mostly high school, with some coverage of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke," the ad states. Pay is competitive and includes benefits.   • The Benson-Four Oaks News in Review, a twice-weekly newspaper in Johnston County, seeks a general assignment reporter. "This job would be good for a print journalist who prefers covering a wide variety of activities, as well as possibly improving already-good skills and even learning new ones," the ad states.
