Paid D.C. journalism internships

Paid political journalism internships in Washington, D.C. are rare. Here are two places seeking Spring semester interns:

• ExecutiveGov, a daily blog that covers senior executives in the federal government, seeks a paid reporting intern to start immediately. Position is 20-30 hours per week, based in the Washington, D.C. suburb of Vienna, Va., and pays $13 per hour. Responsibilities include: Research and write four to six stories a week, plus shorter news briefs; track news and develop contacts and in-depth knowledge in a specific coverage area; attend hearings, meetings and other news-making events in Washington from time to time; actively contribute to the end-of-week meetings.

• The Sunlight Foundation, a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting open government, paid intern to serve as a researcher/reporter starting in January 2010 in its Washington, D.C. office. Pay is $8.25 per hour. "Duties will include some news aggregation, writing short daily posts for the reporting site and working on longer, in-depth investigative reports," the ad states.
