- Garden City Life, a weekly newspaper about 35 minutes from Manhattan, seeks a freelance reporter to cover local sports. Pay is $30 per story and $7 per photograph. To apply, send a cover letter, resume and writing samples to editor Melissa Argueta at email@example.com.
- Massapequa Patch, a hyperlocal news site run by AOL, is seeking freelance sportswriters to cover all aspects of Massapequa sports. "All articles must include photos and a decent digital camera is necessary to write for Patch," the ad states. "If your camera takes video, all the better.
