Evening News Anchor job @ Long Island TV news station

News 12 Networks is the country's first, largest, and most watched 24-hour local television news network. The Network is made up of 7 individual local news channels serving the areas of Long Island, New Jersey, Southwestern Connecticut, Westchester County, Hudson Valley, the Bronx, and Brooklyn. News 12 Networks, owned and operated by Cablevision Systems Corporation, is a cable exclusive service, reaching approximately 3.8 million households in the New York market.

News 12 Long Island is looking for an energetic and outgoing News Anchor who can present news coverage with ease and comfort. This person must have strong on camera delivery and the ability to adlib with co-anchors during newscasts as well as during breaking news coverage. Our ideal candidate is a strong writer with sharp news judgment and the ability to work well with others. He or she is expected to ensure all content meets News 12 Network standards for journalistic integrity and production quality. The candidate must meet deadlines, work well under pressure and handle the demands of an evening shift. Our anchors are expected to regularly interface with our community and make appearances on behalf of our station. The candidate will also be expected to participate in special projects and respond to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent preferred as well as a minimum of four years full-time professional news experience including two years anchoring experience preferred. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to identify problems and develop solutions. Superior on-air performance, excellent news judgment, and extensive knowledge of local and national current events and history, newsmakers, and issues are required. Should have excellent news writing and copy editing ability for all platforms, practical knowledge of newsgathering equipment and computers and knowledge of news production techniques. Candidate must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record and flexibility to work any assigned shift. Cablevision is an equal opportunity employer and drug-free workplace.
