Philadelphia City Paper, a 90,000-circulation, independent alt- weekly newspaper, seeks a staff writer.

Staff writer usually produces one cover story a month (generally narrative-style, long-form reporting and writing) and one story for the news department each week. There are also opportunities to write for the paper's A&E, op-ed, and features sections. Reporters are encouraged to carve out their own beats and keep on top of interesting, progressive ideas in the city, and remain competitive with our weekly and daily competition.  Video and/or blogging interest and experience is a plus: the paper hopes to post additional content on its Web site, www.citypaper.net, to complement the print version.
