Assistant editor jobs @ Baltimore Sun

The Baltimore Sun has openings for Assistant Metro Editors, who are responsible for assigning, editing and enhancing audience-focused content for multiple platform presentation (print, internet, mobile).

In addition to preparing articles and story packages for print, the position duties also include working with reporters, columnists, bloggers, visual journalists and database journalists on content development and execution; editing text and writing compelling headlines, teasers and story summaries; tagging content with appropriate keywords; and helping to keep the digital channels updated in a timely manner.

EQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field, or equivalent experience
• Excellent writing and editing skills
• Prior experience as a supervisor
• Proven ability to work quickly and accurately using a Web-based content management system. 1-2 years of professional Web site production experience is preferred.
• Fluency in Web technology and online content publishing required
• Must work well in a team environment, have the ability to multitask in a deadline-driven environment, and adapt constructively to change
• Must be technically savvy and able to quickly master new processes and software tools used for content editing and production
• Personal or professional experience using Web-based social networks is preferred, or must become adept at using them.
