Paid internship @ The Almanac of American Politics

A paid internship is available this Spring at The Almanac of American Politics, a book published biennially that profiles every state and congressional district, the 50 governors and 535 members of Congress, along with vital political statistics such as election results, demographics and biographical data.

The position is based in Washington, D.C. and is a three-month assignment from mid-February to mid-May; 20 to 30 hours a week depending on applicant’s availability.

Duties include compiling statistics for election, vote and demographic charts; collecting biographical data on members of Congress and the governors; helping input data into a database; and some copyediting as part of a close-knit editorial team. Applicants must be able to work with minimal supervision and with a high degree of precision and accuracy. Background in journalism and political science preferred; knowledge of Excel spreadsheet and databases helpful.
