Entry-level journalism job @ NY Post
The New York Post, a 500,000-circulation daily newspaper in Manhattan, seeks an editorial assistant for its features department.
This position is a hybrid role combining administrative and creative duties. On the one hand you will be expected to process invoices, order supplies and organize the smooth running of the 30-strong department,among other admin duties. On the other hand, you will be expected to generate ideas about life in NYC and pop culture as well as write about those topics.
The ideal candidate will have the following credentials: A college degree, ideally in journalism or with a focus in writing and/or English. At least one year work experience at a magazine and/or newspaper, where you have combined administrative duties with writing, researching and reporting. A comfort level with company systems including processing invoices and liaising with other departments such as human resources, facilities, IT, accounting and finance. A passion for journalism, demonstrated by freelance assignments taken on while at school or writing for a college publication. A willingness to work hard at sometimes menial tasks and support a 30-strong team of writers and editors with a myriad of issues
An excellent can-do attitude and ability to foster good relationships with all kinds of people. Tons of initiative.
