Business reporter job in Bay Area

The North Bay Business Journal, a New York Times Company-owned weekly newspaper in Santa Rosa, Calif., is looking for a Reporter/Staff Writer to contribute to our publication and internet site.

Primary Duties for this position include:
- Develop and write timely stories within deadlines for print and digital products.
- Cultivate and maintain news sources and monitor developments in the news.
- Proofing and copy editing.
- Identify photographs and graphics to illustrate stories.
- Budget stories and maintain calendar of key dates and events in assigned coverage areas.
- Ability to create, compose and edit written materials.
- Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts and requirements as applicable to a newspaper.
- Skill in the use of computerized spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Strong analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills and abilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and employees.
- Ability to organize and maintain own workflow and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
- At least two years of solid business news reporting.
- Multimedia skills, including updating a web site, use of Photoshop, video camera and digital camera
- Spanish language skills a plus.
