Entry-level reporter in NYC suburbs

HomeTown Media Group, a chain of five community newspapers in Lower Westchester, New York, seeks a full-time reporter to join its award- winning staff.

The reporter will be required to write an average of six news stories a week, be required to take photographs as necessary, and be responsible for covering a specific geographical beat. The beat will entail covering local governments and schools as well as features.

The position is perfect for recent grads or others looking to break into the journalism industry. Salary to start is $22,000.

CANDIDATE MUST:
-Live in lower Westchester or surrounding area.
-Have a car. Not having a car to drive to cover events/stories/ meetings is a deal-breaker.
-Be willing to cover events on nights and weekends and holidays when necessary.
Knowledge of AP Style is preferred but not necessary. We are seeking a beat reporter to cover local hard news, government, board meetings, and put together thoughtful investigative pieces. WE ARE NOT SEEKING:
Sports reporters, movie or food or theater reviewers, or columnists.
