Entry-level political writer jobs @ D.C. website
The State Column (www.thestatecolumn.com), a political news website focusing on state politics, is seeking writers and reporters. The online magazine features exclusive content and interviews and is currently one of the fastest growing political websites in the nation.
- Applicants should have good writing, editing, information design, and project management skills
- Manage and post content on a daily basis to Facebook and Twitter accounts
- On an as-needed basis attend events for the purpose of writing reviews and posting on the blog in a timely manner
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on building partnerships, managing conflict and negotiating
- Possess a professional demeanor and be able to conduct interviews as needed
Minimum requirements and skills:
- Bachelor's degree or currently seeking B.A.
- B.A. in journalism, political science, economics or related field
- Experience using a content management system to manage web-based content
- Experience with basic HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL
- Must be able to commit to 35-40 hours per week
- Be within close proximity to Washington, D.C.
Compensation:
$2100 per month. Flexible hours and ability to work from home.
