Entry-level reporting jobs @ Catholic newspaper in Kansas City

National Catholic Reporter, a Kansas City-based, 30,000-circulation biweekly newspaper that covers the Catholic Church, is offering 5-month, full-time paid editorial internships for recent college graduates.

The fall program runs from early August 2012 to late December 2012. The winter/spring program runs from early January 2013 to May 2013. Dates are flexible, with the opportunity to begin earlier and/or extend, in consultation with the managing editor. Applicants can apply for the fall and/or winter/spring programs.

The intern will work as a full-time staff member in the newspaper's Kansas City, Mo., headquarters. Duties include writing stories for the print edition, blogging, podcasting, etc. NCR will provide a monthly stipend and housing assistance.

To apply, send a cover letter, a resume and three writing samples to Dennis Coday, managing editor at dcoday@ncronline.org. In the cover letter, explain how you learned of this opportunity and why you think you would be a good fit for NCR. Please specify whether you are interested in the winter/spring program, the fall program or both. If selected for an interview, applicants will be asked to provide references.
