Reporter job @ NYC area weekly newspaper

Fort Lee Suburbanite, an 18,000-circulation weekly newspaper located in northern New Jersey just across the river from New York City, has an opening for a reporter.

Reporter will cover school board, municipal meetings and community events. Will write and develop news and feature stories. Must perform routine editorial tasks and share office duties, including writing breaking news for the web. Good oral and written communication skills, PC and social media familiarity, and the ability to deal with others are necessary. Newspaper layout skills preferred. A college degree and proven journalism experience are preferred. Must have transportation availability to cover assignments out of the office, as well as be accessible for assignments during and outside regular office hours.
