Capitol Hill reporter job @ National Law Journal

The National Law Journal, a weekly newspaper with 150,000 readers that covers legal news, seeks a a Capitol Hill reporter.

This beat focuses on the lawyers at the Capitol-- from members of Congress to key legislative staffers. A Capitol Hill reporter for the NLJ will assess the impact of attorneys and law firms on public policy, the issues Hill lawyers face in their legal careers, and also provide coverage of legislative issues that are of interest to the legal profession.

Though previous Hill reporting experience is a plus, this is not a traditional political or legislative affairs beat: We are seeking a candidate who will train his or her focus on the lawyer community on the Hill -- and translate that unique perspective into feature-length stories for print and daily news items for our Web sites, particularly The Blog of Legal Times, our Washington newsfeed (at legaltimes.typepad.com ). Candidates with two or more years of reporting experience should submit a resume, letter, and their five best clips.

We offer competitive salaries, professional growth opportunities, and a comprehensive selection of benefits that include: medical, dental, vision, 401(K) and life insurance options.

Qualified candidates should submit resume and cover letter with salary requirements to opportunities@alm.com for immediate consideration. Only candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. No phone calls.
