Slate seeks editorial assistant
Slate, a popular online culture and current affairs magazine, seeks an an editorial assistant for its New York office. The position is a one-year contract position, full-time, without benefits.
The assistant's main duty will be to manage Slate's discussion board, "the Fray." Responsibilities include working with Slate editors to facilitate communication between Slate writers and readers; combing "the Fray" for smart posts to feature on Slate article pages; and monitoring the Fray for spam, offensive comments, and the like. The assistant will also work with top editors to develop Slate's strategy for its discussion board in the future. In addition, the editorial assistant will provide editorial and administrative assistance to Slate's culture editors as needed.
