Rolling Stone offers $2,500 college journalism prizes

Rolling Stone magazine is accepting entries for its 34th Annual College Journalism Competition until June 15. Winners receive $2,500.

Awards are given to college journalists in various categories: Entertainment Reporting (reporting on popular music, film or television, including artist profiles and interviews), Feature Writing (stylishly written narratives and profiles that illuminate issues and trends), and Essays and Criticism (commentary, including expressions of opinion and humor, on any subject). The editors of Rolling Stone judge the entries.

A $2,500 prize is awarded in each category. Entries must have been published in a college-student newspaper or magazine between June 1, 2008 and May 30, 2009. The entrant must have been enrolled as a full- or part-time student at the time that his or her entry was published. Winners will be announced in a fall issue.
