Paid summer internships @ Virginian-Pilot

The Virginian-Pilot, a 170,000-circulation daily newspaper in Norfolk, Va., is accepting applications for paid summer internships.

Internships are 12 weeks, pay $600 per week, and available for reporters, copy editors, photographers, and page designers.

The deadline to apply is Dec. 1.

Here's more info from the newspaper:

Our internships are highly competitive. Therefore, experience working on a college newspaper is a must, and a previous internship at a daily paper is a plus. Reporters and photographers will need a car. Juniors and seniors are preferred, but sophomores and graduate students also are eligible.

The Pilot selects six interns, who will be notified by early February 2010. The pay is $600 a week. All internships run for 12 weeks, except for the one on the sports desk that lasts for six months. Interns will have regular opportunities to meet with The Pilot's editors and other newsroom professionals to talk about their career options.
