Week-long journalism fellowship in Japan

The Kyoto Prize Journalism Program provides fellowships to journalists to assist them in furthering their knowledge and ability to report in greater depth about one or more of the following prize categories: Advanced Technology, Basic Sciences, and Arts and Philosophy. Selected journalist(s) will travel to Kyoto , Japan to attend the 26th annual Kyoto Prize Award Ceremony on November 10, and subsequent laureate lectures and workshops from November 7-14, 2010. They will also be provided with opportunities to interview the Kyoto Prize Laureates in Japan.

The program is designed for professional science, technology and arts writers and editors in print, radio and broadcast media. The program provides learning experiences in the specific fields of the latest Kyoto Prize Laureates through personal seminars, sessions, interviews, lectures and workshops. It is designed to cover the travel and lodging expenses of journalists whose news organizations would otherwise not pay for such a trip to Japan . Journalists will gain valuable understanding and an historical context of the laureates’ works and how they relate to the improvement of society. Application deadline is September 19, 2010.
