Video journalism scholarship opportunity

WPRNY, a New York City video production company, is sponsoring a nationwide contest offering a $500 scholarship prize to the student or group of students who create the most original and effective video journalism news package about a local small business who is changing the world.

Deadline: September 15, 2011

Eligibility: Contestants must be students attending an accredited college, university, or high school in the continental U.S. or Canada at any point during 2011.

Length: Video can be up to 3 minutes long

Subject matter: An everyday small business that is changing the world in a positive way.

“We are looking for creative and innovative approaches to the practice, presentation and delivery of news about small business,” says Eric Wolfram, Director of Production at WPRNY.

All videos will be judged by a panel of professionals selected by WPRNY based on 5 criteria: Concept, Subject Matter, Execution, Artistic Merit, and Number of Views. The winning student or group will be announced on October 15, 2010.
