Education reporter job @ U.S. News & World Report

The Education section at U.S.News & World Report seeks a full-time reporter who will be responsible for writing articles for usnews.com/education and editing other content for the section. This person will write multiple stories a week and will help secure and edit blogger and freelance content to appear on usnews.com. In addition, this person will help post stories and blogs, edit photos, and produce slideshows using our internal content management system.

The ideal candidate has experience reporting on a variety of topics, with preference given to those with backgrounds in covering higher education, online education, and/or financing higher education. Also preferred are those with experience with social media networks, search engine optimization, and content management systems, and the ability to juggle myriad responsibilities in a busy environment.

Requirements:
• Proven research, writing, and editing skills
• A firm grasp of current events and strong news judgment
• Keen interest in education, particularly higher education
• Working knowledge of and interest in U.S. News's Education rankings projects
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Strong understanding of SEO
• Willingness to contribute as needed as a member of a small team
• Technical proficiency in HTML, Photoshop, and Web production
• College degree or equivalent and a minimum of three years of writing experience
