Community Impact Newspaper, a chain of monthly newspapers and news sites in Texas, is seeking a reporter in Austin.

Job Summary:
A reporter at Community Impact Newspaper helps deliver local content to the reader. He/She provides coverage of stories primarily from within the newspaper's circulation area. This involves collecting information, interviewing individuals and writing stories. A reporter's most important task is making the public aware of local events and issues that affect their lives by writing informative, engaging stories. Duties include gathering information and writing articles for a monthly newspaper as well as special publications and the website.

Responsibilities:
- Research and write engaging lead and feature stories as assigned and conceptualize graphics and sidebars for each story
- Attend and cover city council meetings, chamber functions, and other news or city events
- Assist Market Editor with copy-editing, fact checking, design or writing as needed
- Write and post web stories and other web content in an accurate, timely manner
- Build and maintain relationships with community contacts by attending chamber luncheons, city council meetings and other community events to maintain a steady flow of news
- Shoot photographs for stories as needed

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
- 1 year prior experience with other print publication(s) a plus
- Knowledge of photography a plus
