Entry-level business journalism job in Austin, Texas

CreditCards.com, a website dedicated to consumer credit card related news, is hiring a part-time entry-level reporter to focus on reporting and writing personal finance stories that its readers can easily understand.

Our proprietary research, stories, tools and video are routinely picked up by leading news outlets such as the Associated Press and appear on major sites, such as Yahoo, MSNBC, NASDAQ.com, Forbes.com, TheStreet.com and Google news.

Position is 27 hours a week and based in northwest Austin, Texas. No health or medical benefits, but successful applicant will receive 401(k) match and some paid personal leave time.

Job Summary:

The Canadian Record, a small weekly newspaper near the Texas-Oklahoma border, seeks a full-time sports writer/general assignment reporter who knows how to handle a camera and lay out the weekly sports section, and who isn’t afraid to cover a monthly school board meeting, deliver newspapers to local newsstands and pitch in to help with all facets of news coverage in this small but progressive town in the northeastern Texas Panhandle.

Chief responsibilities involve covering and photographing sports activities in a Class A school district from elementary school through high school, with special attention to all varsity sports (football, cross country, basketball, track and field, golf and tennis).
