Paid internship @ Philanthropy magazine in DC

The Philanthropy Roundtable seeks a publications intern immediately and continuing through the winter/spring semester in its Washington, D.C., offices.

The Roundtable maintains an active program of publishing both in print and online. In addition to its quarterly magazine, Philanthropy, and its website (www.philanthropyroundtable.org), the Roundtable publishes monographs, guidebooks for donors, and other educational materials.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Publications interns are principally responsible for assisting the editors with the publication of Philanthropy, the production of new guidebooks, and the maintenance of the website. Daily assignments will include producing original, creative material; posting content to the website using our ExpressionEngine CMS; copy-editing and proofreading; securing permissions; and assisting the editors with routine administrative work. Demonstrated superior writing skills may open opportunities to compose original, bylined articles.

QUALIFICATIONS: This internship is open to undergraduates and graduate students of any major, as well as recent graduates. The position requires a person with highly developed writing and editing skills, as well as a high level of discretion and a temperament suited to working with leaders in the business and philanthropic communities. Publications interns should be task-oriented, flexible, and finely attuned to detail. At all times, they will be expected to conduct themselves with the highest standards of professional integrity.

TERMS: The publications intern will be expected to work approximately 25 hours per week, starting immediately if available and running through mid May. (Precise hours and days are flexible.) The intern will receive a stipend of $1,000 per month.

APPLICATION: Please email a cover letter describing your interest in the position and your familiarity (if any) with philanthropy, a resume of relevant experience, and two samples of your writing or reporting to Evan Sparks, Managing Editor, at esparks -at- philanthropyroundtable.org.
