Entry-level journalism job @ Preservation magazine

Preservation, a 165,000-circulation bimonthly magazine that covers architecture, is seeking a full-time paid intern/editorial assistant. Must commit six months to the position, which is based in Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities include supporting the editorial and advertising sales staff with administrative tasks, as well as writing, editing, and fact-checking stories for Preservation and PreservationNation.org.

Preservation, the magazine for the National Trust for Historic Preservation, tells the stories of extraordinary buildings and sites all over the nation through in-depth features, personal travel essays, and vibrant photography. The quarterly publication covers everything from architecture and art to history and politics, in addition to breaking news pieces online.

Skills: Applicants must be extremely organized; be willing to perform administrative tasks; be able to develop new stories (for print and online); fact-check pieces on tight deadlines; and research photos.

Qualifications: BA or graduate degree in journalism, writing, English, or a related field is preferred. Applicant must have some reporting/writing experience. (Clips are required.) Fact-checking experience is preferred, but not necessary.
