Paid internship @ medical publication in Washington, D.C.
The American Society of Addiction Medicine, a non-profit medical society based in the Washington, D.C. area, seeks a publication intern to start in January. ASAM publishes four books, a quarterly scientific Journal, a quarterly newsletter, and a weekly electronic newsletter.
The publications intern will:
- Help develop and implement the society's social media platform
- Analyze and report weekly on the circulation of the electronic newsletter
- Research subscribers to add to the weekly electronic newsletter
- Organize the association library and develop a rotation cycle to display association books
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed
Requirements:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge and experience with Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Professional maturity and attention to detail

Email a cover letter, resume and short writing sample to intern[at]asam.org and write 'Publications Intern' in the subject line. A minimum 10-week commitment, working at least 18 hours a week at the office is required. Compensation is dependent on the number of hours worked per week. ASAM is located at 4601 North Park Avenue, Upper Arcade, Suite #101, Chevy Chase, Maryland 20815-4520, near the Friendship Heights Metro on the Red Line.
