Entry-level business journalism job in Austin, Texas

CreditCards.com, a website dedicated to consumer credit card related news, is hiring a part-time entry-level reporter to focus on reporting and writing personal finance stories that its readers can easily understand.

Our proprietary research, stories, tools and video are routinely picked up by leading news outlets such as the Associated Press and appear on major sites, such as Yahoo, MSNBC, NASDAQ.com, Forbes.com, TheStreet.com and Google news.

Position is 27 hours a week and based in northwest Austin, Texas. No health or medical benefits, but successful applicant will receive 401(k) match and some paid personal leave time.

The reporter will write news articles and briefs, blogs and tweets and much more. Other duties might include basic copy editing and other tasks, depending on the strengths of the individual candidate.

It requires some journalism experience -- in the classroom and/or in the newsroom -- but we'll also coach you up while you're here. Keen attention to detail and knowledge of AP style are a must. Knowledge of personal finance, basic HTML and SEO would be a plus, as well. Above all, we want someone who loves to write and report and wants to learn to do both better.

To apply, submit your resume, cover letter and 3 samples of work (either links or attachments) to careers@creditcards.com.
