Paid TV journalism internship in CNN's political unit

CNN is offering a paid summer internship in its Political Unit, based in Washington, D.C.

The 12-week internship runs from June 4 to August 10, pays minimum wage and college credit is available. As a Political Unit intern, students will have the opportunity to gain insight into the U.S. political system and CNN's editorial process. They will learn how to compile research for DC based programming as well as; presidential, gubernatorial, senate, and congressional elections through CNN's Political Unit contacts and the internet. They will be able to strengthen their research skills, contribute to, and attend meetings for DC based shows; as well as editorial futures. In the field, interns will have the opportunity to accompany Producers to political events. In production, interns learn how to set up a script with digital video and write. Interns will also learn how to use CNN's digital library to locate video for packages and sound bites for air.

Applicants should be seeking a career in politics and/or journalism. Should be self-motivated, able to multi-task, have a good attitude, and be able to function well in an environment with short deadlines and quick turnaround projects. Interns would need to be available during the week for this internship. Applicants must have completed their sophomore year in college prior to the start of the internship. In addition, applicants may not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship.
