College journalism scholarship for Indiana H.S. students

Indiana high school students can apply for up to $6,500 in journalism scholarship money for college.

The Hoosier State Press Association Foundation will award two $1,500 scholarships again this year to future print journalists in partnership with the Indiana High School Press Association's Indiana Student Journalist of the Year competition.

One scholarship will be for the best portfolio from a small school (fewer than 2,000 students) and the other for the best entry from a large one (more than 2,001 enrollment). Journalist of the Year state winners compete in the Journalism Education Association's national contest, in which more scholarships - $5,000 and $2,000 - are given.

Students should send portfolios to Diana Hadley, 101 Branigin Boulevard, Franklin College, Franklin, IN 46131 by the postmark deadline Wednesday, Feb. 15. More information and the entry form are at the Journalism Education Association website, www.jea.org/awards/journalist.html.
