Paid spring journalism internship @ Huffington Post's Black Voices section

Huffington Post, one of the most visited news sites in the nation, is offering a paid editorial internship for its Black Voices section. Position begins immediately, is 20-25 hours per week, pays $10/hour, and is based in New York City.

The intern will learn proper news reporting style, construction, and newsroom ethics. S/he will be a key member of a team dedicated to providing authentic voices and views to today’s Black communities. The intern will be an integral member of the editorial team, supporting and executing editorial initiatives, including rounding up stories, working with photo and video assets, and assisting in the reporting of investigated pieces. The intern may also act on social distribution efforts, and may develop relationships with internal and external constituencies, including important content partners.

Applicants should have a passion for issues, events and people central to today’s Black culture and experience. They should be a rising Sophomore, Junior, or 1st year Grad student focused on Journalism, or Communications. They should be fluent in Microsoft Office and/or Apple Works suites, basic HTML code experience. They should also be able to quickly learn how to work with online publishing and photo editing software, and work well with data and metrics.
