Paid journalism internship @ Philadelphia hyperlocal news site

NabeWise, a chain of hyperlocal news sites, is offering a journalism internship in Philadelphia. Interns are paid a monthly stipend.

As an intern, your focus will be researching and writing about neighborhoods in Philadelphia. You'll also be photographing neighborhoods in the area. We're looking for a curious and exploratory person who's been living in Philadelphia for at least 2 years.

Since NabeWise is based in NYC, you'll be working remotely. It's necessary to have your own computer, reliable web access, a camera, and access to a car. Our interns work for 15 hours every week and can pick their own hours (we're very flexible!)

Desired Skills/Experience: local knowledge of Philadelphia; expert writing skills; understanding of grammar; ability to write under fast deadlines; photography skills; web surfing and research skills; moderate understanding of maps or urban planning; and experience in the real estate or digital media.

To apply: We would love to see your resume, but please avoid cover letters (they're boring and no fun!) Instead, go to http://nabewise.com/philadelphia and write 2-3 neighborhood reviews in your own voice. Your reviews can be informal, glib, funny, it doesn't matter -- but make sure they're engaging and helpful. If you prefer, you can also email your reviews directly to us at freelancers [at] nabewise.com.

Helpful info you could include in your review: What's the vibe? What types of people live here? What are the nabe's pros/cons? What's it like visiting here vs. living here?

Afterwards, send your profile name and resume to "freelancers at nabewise.com" along with any other relevant information you think we should know about you.
