Fellowship for young U.S. and Austrian journalists

U.S. and Austrian journalists ages 21-38 can apply for a 7-week all-expenses paid fellowship which gives up to 6 journalists an opportunity to report from and travel in each other's countries.

The U.S.-Austrian Journalism Exchange Fellowships includes international and domestic travel expenses, living expenses, insurance costs, transportation allowances and a stipend.

After receiving a joint orientation session in Washington, D.C, the American fellows travel to Vienna and the Austrian journalists begin their fellowship in Florida at the GOP National Convention to report for their home media organizations. For six weeks, fellows will work at host newspapers, magazines, and radio and television stations under the supervision of an editor. The program ends with all fellows reuniting in Vienna for a reception and final program evaluation.

Print, broadcast and freelance journalists are eligible, provided they have at least three years of experience and a strong interest in U.S.‑European affairs. Foreign language proficiency is not required, but is preferred.

Deadline to apply is May 6. For more information, click here.
