MLB.com hiring sports journalists

MLB.com, the website of Major League Baseball, is looking to fill Editorial Producer positions. These are part-time positions. Shifts are nights and weekends, up to 32 hours per week.

Editorial producers are responsible for all content production surrounding one baseball game per shift. Responsibilities include editing and posting all content, about 8-10 stories per shift and posting additional multimedia pieces. Write headlines, captions, blurbs. Select and crop photos. Update and maintain two team sites consistently throughout course of game. Monitor game and communicate with reporters about storylines. Communicate with regional and national editors throughout process.

Qualifications:
• Strong copy-editing skills. Prior experience at a newspaper or website is required.
• Knowledge of basic HTML and web publishing.
• Experience with content management systems a plus.Thorough knowledge of baseball. You will be quizzed.
• Basic knowledge of Photoshop.
• Candidates must be based in the NY metropolitan area.

Fantasy baseball writer job @ MLB.com

MLB.com, the website of Major League Baseball, is seeking a Fantasy Baseball Writer/Editor for a part-time opening.

Description: Shift responsibilities include writing, editing and posting player notes containing the latest baseball news and fantasy analysis. Other responsibilities include monitoring live games and news feeds, updating injury report and closer report, Tweeting breaking news and potentially writing and producing fantasy columns. Shifts are days, nights, weekdays and weekends, up to 32 hours per week. Location in the New York metro area preferred.

Qualifications: Thorough knowledge of baseball and several years experience playing fantasy baseball. Solid writing skills, knowledge of AP style, deadline experience and ability to identify important breaking baseball news. Ideal candidates are energetic, up-and-coming writers looking to gain a foothold in sports media.
Salary: Hourly, commensurate with experience.
