Paid summer internships at Patch.com
Patch.com, AOL's national chain of hyperlocal news sites, is searching the country and now accepting applications for full-time, paid summer internships where you'll gain valuable experience working as a journalist. In order to apply you must be a junior, senior, graduate student or a recent graduate.
To learn more check out the Patch Jobs Facebook page.
As an intern, you will:
* Pitch and write stories
* Attend weekly editorial meetings
* Shoot and edit photos and video
* Cover town and school board meetings, court hearings and local businesses
* Attend community outreach events
* Execute social media strategies
What are we looking for?
Smart, enthusiastic students with a passion for local journalism. You should be a self-starter, able to learn quickly and work independently. That means free spirits and straight shooters. Creatives and critics. Nerds with nerve. People who love the Internet, but can see its cracks … and its future, too.
Candidates must have demonstrated reporting experience through campus media, an internship or a freelance position. Candidates must have a car and be willing to work some nights and weekends.
What's next?
If you're interested in joining one of the fastest-growing, most collaborative and most innovative companies on the web, then we want to hear from you!
Polish your resume, gather several writing samples and a letter of recommendation, draft a cover letter, and stay tuned to patch.com/jobs. The application will go live on Jan. 1 and applications will be accepted through Feb. 1.
