Fall multimedia internships @ NY Times
The New York Times is offering Fall internships in its Web Newsroom.
Internships in the Web Newsroom involve the packaging of news for the online audience at a fast-paced and in an ever-changing work environment. A multimedia intern will work with producers, reporters and editors who work on both the Web site and the newspaper. He or she will assist in the production of photos, graphics, audio and video for the Web site. Tasks will include producing multimedia features with audio and photographs; developing interactive features with Flash; and archiving and research tasks associated with both breaking news events and enterprise stories.
The program is intended to further develop the skills that would enable the intern to become a producer at NYTimes.com. Training on-site is essential in order to get a sense for what it is like to work in the newsroom. When a news story breaks, the intern will experience first hand how news judgments are made and how the plans for covering a story take shape.
The job requires good design skills and the ability to execute. The successful candidate must be fluent in a number of front-end technologies and must have a strong, demonstrable interest in journalism. We're looking into three distinct areas for our upcoming internships. If you fall into one or more categories below, we encourage you to apply.
