Paid summer journalism internship @ Idaho newspaper

The Valley Citizen, a 2,500-circulation weekly newspaper in Driggs, Idaho, is offering a paid summer journalism internship.

Teton Valley, Idaho, is home to Grand Targhee Resort and the Teton Mountains. Yellowstone, Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, are in our backyard. Between the ranchers and the skiers and the farmers and the developers, we are also home to some of the most dynamic cultural and political changes this side of the Big Hole Mountains. Hey, we even hosted Glenn Beck last summer!

You can’t hide in a weekly newspaper. We want someone who is just as concerned about the facts as we are about helping you obtain the experience that will add depth to your resume.

6-month journalism internship @ Hawaii newspaper for recent grad

The Molokai Dispatch, a 5,000-circulation weekly newspaper in Kaunakakai, Hawaii, is seeking a recent graduate for a 6-month, full-time reporting internship.

You will be given a weekly stipend of $40, which covers some food expenses. Housing, utilities and on-island transportation are also provided. As a Dispatch intern, you will have your own room in a house shared with other interns. A stick shift car, bicycle and moped are also available for shared use. Gas expenses for work are covered by the Dispatch.

This position requires a six-month commitment, beginning as soon as possible. To apply, you must have a bachelor’s degree in journalism and previous experience in newspapers or other publications. Experience in photography and video is a plus. We’re also looking for someone with sensitivity to minority and cultural issues, an outgoing personality and the ability to “tough it out” in challenging situations, and a strong sense of responsibility and journalistic ethics. We focus on the issues that are important to the year round and seasonal residents of the Island. The Queens Chronicle, a 160,000-circulation weekly newspaper in New York City, seeks interns for its Rego Park newsroom. Internship starts immediately.

Interns will write articles for the paper and take photographs, along with various other newsroom duties 2-3 days per week. Candidates should be adept at writing in AP style and working with an editor. An ability to function well on deadline in a busy environment is a definite plus. $500 stipend will be paid at the end of 12 weeks.

Paid summer journalism internships worldwide @ Associated Press

The Associated Press, a news wire service that is the world's largest news organization. is offering paid journalism internships for Summer 2012 in 10 U.S. cities (including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Washington, D.C.) and 10 international locations (including London, Jerusalem, Seoul, Mexico City, Rome, Bangkok, Johannesburg, New Delhi, Rio de Janeiro and Moscow).

The interns will write stories, shoot videos and/or take photos from these bureaus for 12 weeks this summer. Although a primary format may be declared – depending on interest and ability – the internships will provide experience and training in all three. Interns will attend and contribute to all-format editorial meetings. Assignments will be made by a trainer who will also provide performance appraisals during the course of the internship.

Applicants Applicants must be: a) Current full-time students within two years of earning an undergraduate degree or b) Current full-time graduate students or c) Students who graduated December 2011 or later. They must be able to show proof of legal authorization to participate in a 12-week internship in the assigned country prior to the start of the internship. Paid fall journalism internship program in Washington, D.C.

College students can apply for a 14-week long, full-time, paid political journalism internship in Washington, D.C. International students are also eligible to apply.

The Scripps Howard Foundation Semester in Washington Program runs from  Sept. 10 to Dec. 14. This internship comes with free housing in furnished apartments in Northwest Washington and a stipend of $2,520.

Undergraduate students, juniors and seniors, will spend a 14-week semester covering politics and other news and feature stories in the nation’s capital for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire. Interns may also report for hometown news organizations or other news outlets. This is a full-time internship located in downtown Washington.

Journalism internship @ Yemen Times in Middle East

Yemen Times, Yemen's first and most widely-read independent English-language newspaper, is offering 7-month long editorial internships.

Interns will proof read, editing and write features/news.

Applicants must be fluent in English. Arabic knowledge is an advantage but not a condition and prior experience living in Yemen is favorable.

The St. Louis Jewish Light, a 14,000-circulation weekly newspaper that covers St. Louis' Jewish community, is offering a paid reporting internship this summer.

The Joseph J. Edlin Memorial Summer Journalism Internship is for high school or college students with coursework or experience in journalism or writing. Paid summer journalism internships @ 18 Oklahoma newspapers

Paid summer journalism internships are available at at least 18 newspapers in Oklahoma through the Oklahoma Newspaper Foundation.

Interns will work between 30 and 40 hours per week for eight weeks. The internship salary is $8.50 per hour for a maximum of $2,720.

To receive an ONF paid internship, students must be A U.S. Citizen or permanent U.S. resident; enrolled full time as a sophomore, junior or senior during the 2011-12 academic year; demonstrating a career commitment to newspaper journalism.

Paid summer journalism internships @ Salt Lake Tribune

The Salt Lake Tribune, a 106,000-circulation daily newspaper in Utah, has a paid summer internship program that places interns in its newsroom full time for 10 weeks each summer, working in a variety of different roles.

The start and end dates of the 10-week period are flexible but the internship generally begins in early June and ends in mid-August. Pay is $500 per week.

Interns are expected to have their own transportation and to find housing during their internships.

This will be a full-time internship paid at $8.00 per hour.
