Paid Spring internship @ Berkeley magazine

California, the 100-year-old alumni magazine of U.C.-Berkeley, has an immediate opening for one full-time paid intern.

The intern will be paid $500 per month and have the opportunity to write articles. The internship begins in March and lasts 3 months or one academic semester.

"Our interns typically gain a solid understanding of magazine production, with experience in researching, writing, editing, and fact-checking articles that cover the critical challenges affecting the state, nation, and world. Some of our past interns have gone on to write for publications such as the New York Times, L.A. Times, Mother Jones, and Nature," the ad states.

Required qualifications: Ideal candidates will be well-informed college graduates pursuing careers in journalism and publishing, with excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills; a keen interest in current events; and the ability to work well both cooperatively and independently. Knowledge of UC Berkeley is preferred.

By March 18, e-mail resume, cover letter and writing samples to anne.pinckard@alumni.berkeley.edu. Put “editorial intern” in the subject line. Your writing samples do not have to be published material; however, we prefer non-academic and non-fiction samples. Be sure to choose pieces that you feel best reflect your current writing and reporting abilities.
