Paid summer internship @ Entertainment Weekly in L.A.

EW's Los Angeles bureau is offering a full-time editorial internship starting mid-May. The position pays $10/hour and will last three months. You must be able to work at least 30 hours per week. In addition to office duties such as transcribing, interns will have the opportunity to write for the magazine and its website, EW.com. We're located at 11766 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles.

Paid spring journalism internship @ Inc. magazine in San Francisco

Inc., a 690,000-circulation monthly magazine that focuses on growing companies, is offering a paid journalism internship working on the magazine's website.

This is a full-time, paid position that doesn't include coffee runs or picking up dry cleaning. Position is based in downtown San Francisco. Internship starts immediately. The end date is flexible.

The internship will involve repurposing stories, pitching story ideas, reporting, and writing for the site. Candidates should be prepared to write 5 or 6 short items per day, tweet and Facebook everyday and handle other tasks as assigned. The intern will receive experience in the general workings of a forward-thinking website.

Applicants should have an interest in business and a capacity for hard work on deadline. They should have experience reporting, writing, fact-checking, blogging for their college newspapers, in previous internships, online, or on other websites. Paid journalism internships @ food magazine in Los Angeles

Slice, the magazine of Cheesecake Factory, offers paid internships year-round in its Los Angeles office. Interns work approximately 20 hours per week. Internships start in January, April, July and October.

Paid broadcast journalism internships available nationwide

Paid year-round internships at TV stations and shows such as Fox LA, CBS News, and ABC’s 20/20, are available through the the Institute for Humane Studies.

Interns receive a $3,200 stipend for an eight-week internship. They also get a travel allowance to get to the internship. There's a six-day journalism workshop, featuring acclaimed journalists from The Atlantic and Reason Magazine, plus academic lectures on topics such as the history of the free press and working with statistics. Interns also receive job placement assistance from the program director, a former journalist.

IHS places interns at broadcast journalism media outlets, but applicants can also find their own unpaid internship and seek a stipend through the program.

Advanced undergraduates, recent graduates, and graduate students of all majors, including political science and economics majors are eligible. Paid summer journalism internships are available at a variety of mid-sized and large daily newspapers through the Institute for Humane Studies. Advanced undergraduates, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors, including political science and economics, are encouraged to apply.

Interns receive a $3,200 stipend for an eight-week internship. They also get a travel allowance to get to the internship. During the internship, you'll get to report rather than merely fetch coffee! The average intern walks away with at least 20 clips. You'll work on a variety of assignments, including: writing features, reporting hard news, contributing opinion commentary, pursuing investigative stories. Regular feedback on your work from editors and your fellow journalists will strengthen your abilities. And you'll develop a network of professional contacts that will help you launch a journalism career.

Past internship placements include the New York Sun, Orange Count Register and newspapers in Florida, Texas and North Carolina. But applicants have the option to find an unpaid internship, unrelated to the program, and apply for funding.

Paid summer internship @ Dr. Drew show

A paid summer internship is available on the Dr. Drew Show on HLN. The 12-week position is based in Los Angeles, pays minimum wage. College credit is also available.

Applicants must be students who have not have graduated college or graduate school prior to the start of the internship.

Interns at HLN will gain insight into the editorial decision-making process. They will be offered the opportunity to strengthen their research skills while contributing to the show. They will learn how to set-up a script with video and copy, use CNN’s databases and newsroom computer systems, and learn how to use CNN’s video database to locate video to use on the program. Interns will be greeting show guests and showing them out after their scheduled appearance. They will also have the opportunity to assist the team with basic administrative tasks like researching, story pitches and suggesting strong video elements and graphics. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in how show ideas are developed, how videotape is gathered and edited, the script-writing process, and how the program is built from an editorial and production perspective. They will also be given the opportunity to assist associate producers, tape editors, assignment editors and producers in Los Angeles.

Paid Spring internship @ Berkeley magazine

California, the 100-year-old alumni magazine of U.C.-Berkeley, has an immediate opening for one full-time paid intern.

The intern will be paid $500 per month and have the opportunity to write articles. The internship begins in March and lasts 3 months or one academic semester.

"Our interns typically gain a solid understanding of magazine production, with experience in researching, writing, editing, and fact-checking articles that cover the critical challenges affecting the state, nation, and world. Some of our past interns have gone on to write for publications such as the New York Times, L.A. Times, Mother Jones, and Nature," the ad states.

Required qualifications: Ideal candidates will be well-informed college graduates pursuing careers in journalism and publishing, with excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills; a keen interest in current events; and the ability to work well both cooperatively and independently. Knowledge of UC Berkeley is preferred.

Paid 8-week broadcast journalism internships are available year-round at TV stations and radio stations nationwide through the Institute for Humane Studies.

One of the best ways to break into the industry is through a hands-on internship with an experienced producer at a major media network or news production house.

No previous experience is necessary. We're looking for articulate students passionate about liberty. Students from all disciplines, including political science and economics, are encouraged to apply. Students located within and outside the United States are eligible for placement.

Paid sports journalism internship @ Calif. newspaper

The Ridgecrest, Calif. Daily Independent has immediate openings for paid interns in its Sports Department.

These are temporary assignments lasting approximately 10 weeks. Night and weekend availability is required. Most of the work interns will do involve taking results over the phone from coaches and typing up stories and statistical summaries based on that information.
