Paid legal journalism internship in Ontario

Lawyers Weekly, a newspaper about Canada's legal profession, is immediately seeking an editorial intern. The internships is based in Markham, Ontario.

Reporting to the Managing Editor, and working closely with the Ottawa Bureau Chief, Focus Editor and Business Editor, you will assist in developing editorial for The Lawyers Weekly as well as assist with some administrative tasks. Candidates should have an interest in journalism and working knowledge of InDesign. This internship starts as soon as possible. The position does not provide a weekly salary but includes a $750 honorarium upon completion of the internship.

Responsibilities: In-depth research, including telephone interviews and filing freedom of information requests; attending legal conferences; editing stories; writing stories; developing story ideas for features and briefs; copy editing; fact checking; layout and design of newspaper.
