Paid summer 2011 internships @ Reuters Tokyo bureau

Reuters, a global news wire service, is still seeking paid reporting interns this summer for an 8-10 week internship in Tokyo.

Although the deadline listed in the ad has passed, I'm told to disregard it and that they're still looking to fill the internships. Applicants should be fluent in Japanese and have an interest in business reporting.

Here are the details:

The ten-week internships are a crash course in hands-on business, political and general news reporting.

A Reuters internship offers student journalists a global audience of leading media outlets, financial decision-makers and savvy Internet readers with a potential audience of a billion people.

We seek bilingual journalists who are curious about the world. We want to know what experiences in your life set you apart and make you passionate about journalism.

There is no guarantee of future employment at but the Reuters newsroom has a track record of recruiting the best of our summer interns, subject to job openings.

Note that successful candidates outside Japan will need to arrange their own travel and Tokyo accommodation for this paid internship.
