Paid political journalism internship in Pennsylvania
Applicants should be rising juniors or seniors or recent graduates. In certain circumstances, we have accepted rising sophomores.
The program runs for 12 weeks and interns spend two-week rotations working for six, participating news organizations (The Allentown Morning Call; Philadelphia Inquirer, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette; Pittsburgh Tribune-Review; The Harrisburg Patriot-News and Capitolwire.com ).
Pay is $500/week and interns will be expected to secure their own housing and provide their own transportation. Rents in Harrisburg are relatively inexpensive compared to most cities and there is some student housing available near the Capitol complex.
Preference is given to students who plan to pursue a career in political journalism. But former interns have gone on to cover a wide array of beats across different media.
