Paid spring editorial internship @ Moviefone in NYC

Moviefone, a movie listing and information website that receives nearly 16 million unique visitors each month, is offering a paid editorial internship in its New York City office. This is a spring internship (available immediately) for 20 hours / week; $10/hr.

We're looking for a quick study who is very passionate about movies, can help with editorial and programming tasks, with an emphasis on production and behind-the-scenes functions. Daily programming work is required to: manage our DVD release page, manage our "Coming Soon" & "In theaters" pages, maintain moviefone tumblr account, assist with facebook / twitter, help with community outreach, promoting content with fan communities, and build/Send out weekly e-mail newsletter.

Intern will also help editors with: transcribing, editorial research, taking Minutes during editorial meetings, help organizing editorial calendars, help with photo assignments, build galleries, and writing copy.

Qualifications: Passion for online media and internet-based businesses, student experienced in journalism, marketing and / or communications, knowledge of film industry, box office trends, home entertainment platforms, film studios, understanding of blog platforms, html, photoshop a plus, ability to anticipate movie audience trends.

Paid interns @ Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly, a 1.7 million-circulation magazine that covers movies, television, music, Broadway and pop culture, is offering paid internships this summer.

Internships pay $10 per hour, are full-time, run three months and are based in Los Angeles.

"In addition to office duties such as transcribing and managing the mailroom, interns will have the opportunity to write for the magazine and/or its website, EW.com," the ad states.

$7,000 scholarship for television & film students

College upperclassmen studying film or television can apply for scholarships worth up to $7,000 each.

The Charles & Lucille King Family Foundation scholarships award up to $3,500 per academic year to juniors and seniors majoring in television and film. Applications and all support materials must be received no later than March 15.

Internships @ The Hollywood Reporter

The Hollywood Reporter, a major trade publication of the film industry, is currently seeking multimedia interns in its Los Angeles and New York City offices. Internships are available year-round and include reporting opportunities. The part-time positions are unpaid, but offer college credit.

General duties include: photo processing; newsletter assembly; loading of news, feature, review, blog and video content onto thr.com; updating internal and external calendars and distributing calendar info to department; handling regular news columns such as casting roundups, executive roundups and the weekly report on MPAA film ratings; chart and data work; scanning wires and sibling sites for relevant content; general assignment writing, editing, researching and proofing; online marketing (sending links or posting on related web sites); video editing and production assistance; minimal administrative support for the editor.
