Entry-level copy editor job @ Harrisburg Patriot-News

The Harrisburg Patriot-News, a 76,000-circulation daily newspaper in Pennsylvania's capital, is seeking an aspiring and talented journalist for a 12-month fellowship in page design and copy editing. The pay is $500/week with two weeks' paid vacation.

This person will be an integral part of the best universal copy and design desk in Pennsylvania. He or she will copy edit news, sports and feature stories, write headlines, and design news and sports pages. You must be comfortable working in a deadline environment and enjoy flexible, varied challenges. The position includes nights and weekends.

Fluency with Adobe InDesign for page design and strong design skills are essential. However, this is NOT a position for a pure graphic artist. You must also have a demonstrated skill with copy editing and headlines. In other words, you must be good at using both sides of your brain. For recent grads, we strongly prefer candidates who have had an internship on a professional daily newspaper and/or very significant experience on a college paper.
